Barrel for MR1 Spyder paintball gun

I just bought a MR1 Spyder and I was wondering what was the best barrel for balance between Long Distance and Close Combat play. Of course, accuracy and as less noise as possible is a must.

Despite what you want a paintball marker will never be as accurate or consistant as a real weapon. There also isn't really a "perfect balance" between long and short distance. It really has to do with pressure. How a spyder paintball gun works is that when you pull the trigger gas pushes the ball out of the chamber and down the barrel. After a short while the ball will reach its terminal velocity (fastest speed an object can travel) and it will only slow down from there. Excess porting (makes your gun quieter) in a barrel with lower your ability to fire far distances because the gas is escaping and not getting the ball moving as fast. With that being said the ideal barrel length is 14 in. What you can do is go to Actionvillage.com and go to the paintball section (AV is the same thing as pbgear.com). From there you click on the barrels and you will need a "spyder" threaded barrel. There you can pick from a multitude of barrels. Depending on your budget there are barrels that are for the rec baller and for the pro player. I suggest getting a 14 in barrel from smart parts or a 14 in barrel from J&J.

What length would you say would be best for a straight sniper in woodsball?
Also, i am seeing that there are different caliber barrels. What is up what that

There is really no such thing as a "paintball sniper". The trajectory of a paintball is too inconsistant to expect any thing close to the acuracy of a real bullet. As far as the inconsistant caliber goes thats really called "bore". The bore of a barrel can vary slightly from barrel to barrel and in the higher end kits you can actually change it with different inserts. Paintballs are all made differently which causes slight variations on size. Now what the pros do is they figure out what bore the paint they are using is and they adjust their barrels to it. This helps with accuracy and efficency because the paint is a better fit to the inside of the barrel. I still reccomend just a 14 inch smartparts or J&J barrel. I personally use a J&J on my spyder and it has served me well over the years.
